  • Degree of hotness : The peppers measure 2.48 million on the Scoville heat scale.

III: NSG : NUCLEAR SUPPLIERS GROUP

  • 48-nation NSG is expected to hold its plenary in June 2017 in Bern, Switzerland, where the topic of New Delhi’s entry is expected to be discussed.

  • What is NSG ? The NSG controls the global exports of nuclear technology and material to ensure that atomic energy is used only for peaceful purposes.

  • When it began ? The circus began in 1871 as P. T. Barnum’s Grand Travelling Museum. Ringling Bros. merged with Barnum & Bailey in 1919.

  • About Bheem Army : The Bheem Army Ekta Mission is the full name of the group which was established in July 2015 by Chandrashekhar Azad Ravan with the sole aim of empowering Dalits through education.

X : PISTOL OF BHAGAT SINGH

  • Why famous ? Freedom fighter Bhagat Singh had used the pistol to shoot dead British police officer J. P. Saunders in 1928.

  • For Display : It will be displayed at the Martyrs’ National Memorial in Ferozepur district. The BSF’s Central School of Weapons and Tactics (CSWT) in Indore, where the pistol was kept all these years, transferred it to the BSF Headquarters in Punjab

  • Specification : The pistol, a US-made 0.32 Colt.

XII: PARIS CLIMATE AGREEMENT

  • Why agreement ? The Paris Climate Agreement (PA) was signed in December 2015 in an attempt to limit the release and the effects from greenhouse gases (GHGs) in the atmosphere.

  • The Conference of the Parties-22 (COP-22) in Marrakesh in November 2016 continued discussions on the implementation

  • The Green Climate Fund (GCF) : is an international mechanism set up at the Conference of the Parties-16 (COP-16) in Cancun in 2010.

  • Aim : As per the international agreement, advanced economies should provide an annual assistance of $100 billion, through public and private sources, by 2020 — the deadline is now extended to 2025.

XIII: ELECTRONIC VOTING MACHINE:

  • What is EVM ? The Indian EVM is a singular instrument with its dependence on standalone hardware-firmware-led machine components to register and tally votes .

  • VVPAT : The EC has pledged the universal deployment of voter verifiable paper audit trails beginning 2019. VVPATs will add another layer of accountability, allowing voters to verify the choice registered on the ballot unit in real time, and the machine-read vote tallies post-election.
