CURRENT AFFAIRS 3 : Oxfam survey highlights glaring difference in earnings


THE REPORT NAME :‘Reward Work, Not Wealth’

WHAT WAS ITS FINDING ?

Found that

  • the richest 1% in the world owns more wealth than the whole of the rest of humanity;

  • 82% of all growth in global wealth in the last year went to the top 1%, while the bottom half of the world’s population saw no increase at all.

SOLUTION : In countries like the U.K., U.S. and India, respondents think CEO's should take a 60% pay cut.

HIGH LIGHT : The survey showed that the wealth of India’s richest 1% increased by over Rs. 20.9 trillion during 2017 — an amount equivalent to the total budget of the Central government in 2017-18.


FINALLY – Economic gap increased drastically.
